It’s not just advice, it’s a commandment. Sarah Lin’s talk on rest and Sabbath was so good that I’m going to write my favorite parts down so that I don’t forget.
Sabbath reminds us of so many things:
- God doesn’t love us or validate us because of the things we do
- what we have is from God and…
I needed to hear this.
CANON T3 GIVEAWAY.
I swear on everything that this isn’t a bullshit contest to gain followers. I’ve been wanting an SLR forever and I ended up getting two. One from my cousin, and the other from my mom. I was thinking about returning/selling my second one, but I wouldn’t be getting the same amount or more than what it was originally priced. I’ve already talked to my mom about me giving it away, she doesn’t mind. But besides all this, who the hell doesn’t like free stuff?
Here’s how this will work:
- You do not have to follow me. I don’t want any followers that don’t actually like my blog. I do ask of you to kindly check out my blog though. If you like it cool, if not, run along now.
- Likes do not count for anything, only reblogs will count. You can reblog this as many times as you’d like.
- Do not create any extra blogs or whatever, I will be creeping on your archives.
- Winner will be chosen like as if it were a raffle drawing.
- Winner will be contacted via ask box, so make sure that you have that open.
- This will be over on May 27th, and the winner will be announced (possibly) on the 29th.
I am doing this basically to make someone else happy and also because I accidentally deleted the other contest I was doing. Please don’t participate if you already own an SLR, but you can if you’d like I guess. I really don’t care if you live in Narnia, anyone is eligible to enter.
Here’s what the winner will get:
The camera is brand new.
- Canon T3.
- 18-35mm Kit lens.
- Wide strap.
- Interface cable.
- AV cable.
- Battery pack.
- Battery charger.
- EOS digital disc instructions.
If you think this is “stupid” of me to do or anything of that sort, than just ignore it. It’s that simple.
Q. “Why would you just giveaway an expensive camera to a stranger?”
A. TO MAKE THEM HAPPY.
Q. “How do we know you aren’t bullshitting us?”
A. To make a fake contest just for followers is stupid as fuck, plus, I have a picture of me holding both the cameras.
If you have any other questions or concerns, ask them here or here.
“It’s hard to wait around for something you know might never happen; but it’s even harder to give up when you know it’s everything you want”
Yesterday, we posted that we will be donating 50% of any sales in our shop to the Red Cross for the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief.
Late last night, I got a message from my friend Kanako (who is actually pictured above and lives in Tokyo) in response to my post. The message was heartbreaking, and I realized that spreading awareness of personal stories from people who are affected may incline more of us to be willing to provide them with the love and help they desperately need right now.
This is a lengthy post, but I hope some of you will take the time to read it.Steppie, thank you so much for this! I’m so touched by your support…this really means a lot to me.
I’ve never seen Japan this much in need of help…even the seemingly undamaged areas like tokyo are in one way or another affected by this quake: we’re gonna have 3-hour long blackouts a couple of times a day until at least the end of april as we’re running out of electricity; all the foods and drinks have disappeared from the supermarkets as well as convenient stores; now we are fearful of and need to protect ourselves from nuclear power leaks…etcthe government started the planned blackouts today, and the train runs have been reduced to less than half if not none in order to conserve electricity, meaning we may not get outside at all for a while…I’ve just been informed by my company that most of us probably wouldn’t be able to come to the office from tomorrow on, and many others have already closed down their shops, factories etc…but we shan’t halt the Japanese economy, so some of us would be staying at a hotel nearby so that we would carry on the operations.
Food/water shortages were pretty shocking to me as well; not used to seeing completely empty shelves of the convenient stores. It may be that people are stocking them because the government has announced that it is estimated that there is a 70 % probability that we’ll have another big aftershock.
As you can probably guess, the amusement parks are closed, events canceled, literally all the channels on tv feature the news and updates of the quakes, shops & restaurants close early…So i wouldn’t be exaggerating to say almost all the entertainments have been cut off as of now.
The worst part is that we don’t know how long it’s gonna last, and it isn’t crazy to assume that the situation could deteriorate.
All the above is happening within tokyo where we had the least number of the deceased; imagine how worse the situation is where the entire city has been swept away… ><your love and support encourage us to stay strong and get through this nightmare. Thank you thank you thank you, you are amazing! ♥
The most frightening part is that Kanako’s story is coming from someone much more fortunate than others in Japan who had their entire city swept away. They need our help, and whether you help us help them or help directly… they need whatever we can give them.
I need to stop being a slave to my emotions.
Sloth is actually born out of fear. We are afraid to fail, so we don’t even try at all in order to protect ourselves from failure. What have to understand is that when Jesus died on the cross, he took upon all our failures with him. We now have all the room in the world to fail, and God will still love us as His own.
One day when I’m like 30, I’m gonna log onto my tumblr, for the first time in who knows how long it’ll be by then, and read all of my posts. Every single one. And I’m probably gonna either laugh at how ridiculous I was, or cry because I’ll never be this young and naive again.
